Days out

Pond Dipping, Brereton Heath Nature Reserve, Congleton

We had never heard of pond dipping and were keen to find out what it involved. It was a lovely day & we met our park guide at the visitors centre. We were all given a net, a tray and a guide to mini beasts. We were then led on a walk through the reserve to a small pond. We had to dip the nets in and check our mini beast guide to see what we had found. Max was first to find a water boatman. We found lots of things including frogspawn, tadpoles and small fish. Before we left for home, we eat our picnic and fed the ducks.

Blaze Farm, Willdboarclough, Macclesfield

We visited Blaze farm in the middle of lambing season, we we allowed into the lambing shed to hold the baby lambs. There were lots of other animals to see including cows, chickens, ducks and pigs. We fed the chickens and then cooled down with a famous hilly billy ice cream. Then, before we set off for home, we had a go on the tube hill slide and walked the nature trail. A good day was had by all !

Spaceport & Mersey Ferries, Liverpool

We packed our picnic & headed off for Liverpool to visit Wallace & Gromit at Spaceport, Liverpool. On arrival, we were ushered into a room that would blast us off into space ! We sat in the theatre and watched a show (on the ceiling!) all about space and planets. We had our pictures taken with Wallace & Gromit and got to design our own spaceships. We then made our way to the river Mersey where we had our sandwiches and watched the boats go by before we boarded our ferry across the mersey.

Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester

We enjoyed our visit to Manchester Museum of Science and Industry. There was so much to do. We got to ride on a steam train and power up a hot air balloon. We visited underground Manchester and the Victorian sewers and learned about important people in our history on mini theatres. We also visited the Castlefield Roman fort.
